Goodwin Text Messages

Last updated October 28, 2026

Goodwin is a budgeting assistant for couples that works by text message. This page explains what we text, how you sign up, how often we text, and how to stop.

What we send

We send two kinds of texts. Both come only from Goodwin, and only to people who agreed to get them.

We never send ads for other companies. We never text account numbers.

How you sign up

You sign up on our website. On the sign-up page, you enter your mobile number. You then check a box, which is unchecked by default, next to this text:

I agree to receive text messages from Goodwin about my household's money. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.

We then text a code to your number. You enter the code to show the number is yours.

The Goodwin sign-up page. It asks "What's your mobile number?", has a mobile phone number field, an unchecked box with the consent text above, and a "Text me a code" button.
The sign-up page, where you agree to texts.

After you submit the form, you see this page and enter the code we texted you:

The code page shown after the form is submitted. It says "We sent you a code", explains that a 6-digit code was texted and expires in 10 minutes, and has a Code field and a Continue button.
The page shown after the form is submitted.

Once the code checks out, your first text from Goodwin confirms the sign-up:

Goodwin: You're signed up. I'm a bot for your money texts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Partners. A partner joins only through an invite link that the first member sends from their own phone. The partner then signs up and agrees on the same page, in the same way. We never text anyone who hasn't agreed.

Waitlist. On our home page, the mobile number is optional. If you give one, you check a separate box, also unchecked by default, to get one launch text.

How often

Message frequency varies. Most people get one summary a week or a month, a few heads-ups a month, and replies when they text us. We don't send summaries or heads-ups late at night.

Cost

Goodwin doesn't charge for texts. Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

How to stop, and how to get help

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your privacy

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
